AIDA Inc Code of Conduct
1. Why We Have This Code
The Australian Irish Dancing Association Inc. (AIDA Inc.) wants Irish dancing to be fun, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
We run many events each year, and this code helps everyone know how to behave so all dancers can enjoy themselves and feel safe.
By following this code, you help make Irish dancing a happy and positive place for everyone.
2. How We Expect Dancers to Behave
All dancers should:
-
Be kind, polite, and respectful to others
-
Work well with others and be a good teammate
-
Use nice words and actions
-
Be aware of the people around you
-
Tell an AIDA official, teacher, or trusted adult if someone is hurt, upset, or in danger
-
Take part honestly and do your best
When you do these things, you help make AIDA Inc. a great place for Irish dancing.
3. Behaviour That Is Not Allowed
The following behaviour is not okay at any AIDA event:
-
Bullying, teasing, threatening, or being mean to others
-
Treating someone badly because of who they are, how they look, or what they believe
-
Making rude or offensive comments
-
Touching someone in a way that makes them uncomfortable
-
Taking photos or videos of someone when you shouldn’t
-
Disrupting classes, competitions, or performances
-
Using illegal substances or consuming alcohol under the legal age
AIDA events may be held in public places, so dancers must also be respectful to members of the public.
Using social media to bully, embarrass, or hurt others connected to AIDA events is also not allowed.
4. What Happens If the Rules Are Broken
AIDA Inc. takes this code very seriously.
If a dancer behaves in an unacceptable way:
-
They may be asked to stop immediately
-
They may be removed from the event
-
In serious cases, they may not be allowed to attend future events
-
Parents, teachers, and dancers will be involved when decisions are made.
Anyone asked by an authorised AIDA official to stop unacceptable behaviour must do so right away.
5. What To Do If Something Goes Wrong
If you:
-
Are being treated badly
-
See someone else being treated badly
-
Feel unsafe or worried
Please tell an AIDA official, teacher, or trusted adult as soon as possible.
AIDA Inc. will help make sure everyone feels safe and supported.
6. Who This Code Applies To
This code applies to all dancers registered with AIDA Inc. at every AIDA event.
Registering as an AIDA dancer means agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct.
